From 1870 to 1945, Alsace was a major war zone between France and Germany. This tour will explore the history of the Alsatians, first under German rule, then under French. We will discover remnants of these wars and visit Struthof (a concentration camp at 900 meters altitude), a Nazi German concentration camp. For a lighter touch, we will conclude the tour with a visit to one of the most beautiful panoramic views of Alsace and Christendom at Mont Sainte-Odile. It is important to bring a waterproof jacket and warm clothing depending on the weather. A written description and audio guide are available in English for Struthof. In the event of exceptional closures or road closures due to snow, a visit to the Alsace-Moselle Memorial will be offered. More information about my organization can be found on my website.
