The itinerary begins at Arenal Observatory Lodge and Lake Arenal surrounding the forest area. This mid-elevation tropical region has some of the most impressive Birding habitats of the Country. This attraction is located by the western foothill of our active summit. Visitors will be able to appreciate a vast variety of avian species, such as Toucans, tanagers, trogons, hummingbirds, oropendolas, manakins, flycatchers, herons, egrets, kingfishers, birds of prey, and many more. Mammals as Howler or Capuchin monkeys, sloths, coatis, which also share this nature-rich environment. Lake Arenal (Pass by)
Created during the 1980s decade to supply electricity throughout the country. Arenal lake became an essential wetland for migratory avian wildlife species. This ecological condition allowed this body of water to achieve a Ramsar Site category, which is embraced to a worldwide regulation with specific legislation accorded in Ramsar, Iran in 1971.
