Civita di Bagnoregio is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy and every year it is visited by hundreds of thousands of people who come from all over the world to admire its timeless appearance and the magical atmosphere that can be perceived walking through the its narrow alleys. Perched on a hill, threatened by landslides and erosion of the soil, to reach it you have to cross a 200-meter long bridge that from the nearest hill leads to the access door to the historic center. With a very suggestive definition, Orvieto has been called "the strange and tall city". It is easy to understand why, observing from below the Umbrian town standing above the tuff cliff below. From a distance, especially at night, it seems suspended in the sky while in the daytime, it appears barely leaning against the clouds.

the well is so called because of its resemblance to the cavity where the Irish saint loved to retire in prayer. It is 62 meters deep,entirely excavated in the tuff and reaches the water that is located under the cliff on which Orvieto is built. The light comes from 72 windows open towards the center of the well. If you want to find out what the pit is like at the bottom, there are 258 steps to go. And then go back.
