If you have not provided your WhatsApp number and pick up information (hotel name & room number) your tour is not confirmed and we will not be able to pick you up. On the day of your tour, please be ready to be picked up from your hotel between 5:00am and 5:45am, and wait in the lobby. Since we have shared transportation with up to 6 guests per car (1 up front, 3 in the middle row, and 2 in the back row), our drivers choose the best route to pick up all guests in a timely manner. To avoid any delays we appreciate your cooperation in being on time. If you are not at your designated pick up point (and waiting in the lobby!), you will lose your tour without refund. Please note that the car drivers only speak Spanish. The driver will try his best in contacting you via WhatsApp. Please understand that the driver cannot wait longer than 10 minutes before continuing to the next pick up destination, in order to provide timely service for all of the other guests.
Your adventure begins early in the morning with a hotel pick -up in Panama City between 5:00AM and 5:45AM. From there, you’ll journey through Panama’s dramatic jungle highlands in a comfortable 4x4 vehicle. The drive takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours and winds through lush rainforest, mountainous curves, and traditional Guna villages. It's not just transportation—this scenic route is a memorable part of the experience. Keep your eyes open for tropical birds, monkeys, and even sloths along the way. We’ll make a quick grocery stop so you can grab snacks or drinks before heading into the Guna Yala territory.
Once you arrive at the Port of Carti, your Kuna tour boat captain will welcome you aboard a spacious motorboat with shade and safety gear. From there, we’ll head out into the Caribbean Sea for a 60 minute boat ride to the Holandeses Cays—some of the most remote and least visited islands in San Blas. The ride may be splashy or bumpy depending on ocean conditions, but the views are stunning: vivid blue waters, scattered islands on the horizon, and the sense of venturing far off the beaten path. The remoteness of the Holandeses means fewer tourists and more unspoiled nature.
Spend your day visiting two beautiful, untouched islands in the Holandeses Cays, each with soft white sand, tall coconut palms, and calm, turquoise waters. These islands are rarely visited by other tours, so you’ll enjoy plenty of space to relax and unwind. Swim in the warm Caribbean sea, explore the beaches, take hammock naps under the palms, or simply enjoy the peaceful island atmosphere. Because of the remote location, wildlife sightings like seabirds or reef fish just off the shore are common. It’s the ideal setting to disconnect and soak in the raw beauty of nature.
A highlight of the tour is a visit to a shallow natural sandbank in the middle of the sea, often referred to as a “natural pool.” Here, you’ll stand waist-deep in crystal-clear water surrounded by sea stars. It’s a perfect place to float, relax, and take stunning photos. You’ll also have the chance to snorkel in calm, reef-protected waters near the islands. With vibrant coral formations and tropical fish swimming all around, even beginner snorkelers will have a blast. We provide snorkel gear (limited quantity), but you’re welcome to bring your own for best fit and comfort.
Around midday, you’ll be served a freshly prepared lunch by local Kuna hosts on one of the islands. The standard meal includes your choice of grilled fish or chicken, accompanied by coconut rice, crispy plantains, and a fresh salad. A refreshing drink—water, soda, or local beer—is included to complete the meal. Vegetarian options and lobster (for an additional fee) are available with advance notice. All food is made in a clean kitchen with fresh ingredients, and the laid-back island setting makes the experience even more special. Eat by the sea and savor the simplicity of island life.
At 3:00pm, you’ll leave the final island and begin your boat ride back to the Port of Carti. This return trip offers one last chance to soak in the stunning seascapes of San Blas—tiny islands dotting the horizon, glistening turquoise waters, and the feeling of having truly escaped the modern world. Depending on sea conditions, the ride may be bumpy or wet, so we recommend keeping your dry bag or poncho within reach. Boats are equipped with shade and safety gear, and our experienced Guna captains will ensure a safe and smooth journey as you return to the mainland.
Once back at the port, your driver will be waiting to greet you and help you into the 4x4 for the return journey to Panama City. The drive back takes around 2.5 to 3 hours through the mountainous jungle roads of Guna Yala. It’s a scenic, winding route with occasional slow curves and potholes, but it’s also a chance to reflect on the day’s adventure and maybe spot some wildlife one last time. Many guests take this time to nap, relax, or scroll through the amazing photos they captured. You’ll arrive back at your lodging around 7:00pm, refreshed and full of unforgettable memories.
