Itinerary

Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours (approximately)
  • 1
    Tewantin National Park

Ride along the Noosa Riverfront through Tewantin National Park, once a Kabi Kabi (Gubbi Gubbi) gathering place and later the Noosa region's first river port — timber and gold-rush cargo moved through here from the 1860s. Watch for kayakers, fishers and native birdlife along the riverbank, then roll past Poinciana Avenue's historic cafes and galleries in the old town centre before continuing north.

  • 2
    Noosa North Shore

Cross the Noosa River by cable ferry — running since the 1960s, first as a timber barge and now a modern two-cable vessel linking Tewantin to Noosa North Shore. It's the only vehicle access to the North Shore, Cooloola and Fraser Island (K'gari), so keep an eye out for ospreys, pelicans and migratory shorebirds along the mangrove-lined banks as you cross.

Roll onto Teewah Beach, gateway to 80km of Great Sandy National Park coastline and the famous Coloured Sands — more than 70 hues of iron-stained dune, sacred to the Kabi Kabi people and tied to local Dreamtime stories. Look out for dolphins, sea eagles and (June-November) migrating whales offshore, with sweeping views back along the untouched shoreline.

    Noosaville

Pause at Wallace Park, Noosaville's green community heart since 1993. Wander past Wallace House — a 1931 Californian bungalow with a colourful past (rumoured 1980s casino and brothel) rescued by Noosa Council in 1992 and now home to the Noosa Arts & Crafts Association — plus the Noosaville Library, Noosa Leisure Centre and Noosa Parks Association Environment Centre, all set on Kabi Kabi country.

Roll into Noosa Marina, a lively waterfront precinct opened in 1996 on the site of a 19th-century timber and fishing port on the Noosa River. Browse the Sunday markets (8am–2pm), watch the Noosa Ferry depart for Noosa Heads, or simply relax dog-friendly by the water with bike racks and EV charging on hand.
