Discover Mongolian history, culture, its vast landscape, nomadic way of living and horse culture with this 3 Day Tour through central and eastern Mongolia. The tour includes popular sightseeing destinations like Terelj National Park - natural scenic valley with interesting rock formations and Genghis Khan Statue Complex. And some less travelled destinations like 13th Century Park where you'll experience a real voyage into the past, it's a micro kingdom dedicated to creating an experience the way ancient Mongols lived in times of Genghis Khan. At Gun Galuut Nature Reserve- there's a great diversity of ecosystem and homeland for rare animals and birds, complex of high mountains, steppes, rivers, lakes and wetland kept in their original condition. At local herder family, you can experience local horse culture, mare milking, fermentation process and taste the final product 'airag'.

    Day 1

    Terelj National Park, Genghis Khan Statue

    Gorkhi Terelj National Park

    Pick up from hotel and drive to Terelj (50km). Terelj National Park is colorful landscape with alpine scenery, massive rock formations set among scenic valley and hills. Here we'll see the Turtle Rock 24 meters high rock shaped like a lying turtle and enjoy the short hike around the area.

    Aryabal Meditation Temple

    We will explore the temple on foot. The temple was built in 1810s by Mongolian and Tibetan artists. Later in 2000 it was restored by buddhist monks. Aryabal is a Buddhist God who listens to all the prayers of humankind and releases humankind from suffering. It was built in the shape of an elephant’s head. The number 108 is an auspicious number in Buddhism. Therefore the stairs leading to the temple consist of 108 steps and symbolizes the elephant’s elongated trunk. Moreover, signs with 144 Buddhist teachings, written in English and Mongolian, lined the sides of the path to the temple.

    Arrive in Tsonjin boldog area and settle in a ger camp. Relax and rest for a while and head to the Genghis khan statue complex.

    Explore Chinggis Khaan Statue Complex. The Genghis Khan Equestrian Statue is a 40-meter tall, stainless steel statue of Genghis Khan on horseback and the world's tallest equestrian statue. You can walk to the head of the horse through its chest and neck for a panoramic view from top. Inside the complex there are also museums, exhibition and souvenir shops.

    13th century park

    Arrive at 13th century national park. Lunch at the King's palace. Explore Guards camp, Shaman camp, Herder's camp and ride horse, Handcrafts camp, Education camp. Wearing Mongolian traditional costumes. Visiting local herder family and their routine of tending livestock, cow milking etc.

    Gun-Galuut Nature Reserve

    Explore Gun Galuut Nature Reserve. We will stop by at Ikh Gun Nuur (Big Deep Lake) and Aygan Nuur (Cup Lake). There is a chance to see some endangered bird species such as heron, stork, Siberian crane, hooded crane and many more. You can either hike or drive to the mountains there are over 200 Argali sheeps and live in herds. Argali are considered an endangered species throughout their entire range, due largely to habitat loss from overgrazing of domestic sheep and hunting. Experience horse culture, mare milking and tasting fermented mare's milk drink at local herder family. Drive back to Ulaanbaatar and drop off at the hotel.
