    Day 1

    Yellowstone National Park

Day one starts with a scenic drive through Grand Teton National Park and the John D. Rockefeller Parkway, stopping to take photos and restroom breaks before entering the South Entrance of Yellowstone National Park. Although the day is long, this is a fast-paced whistle-stop tour featuring a series of short scenic hikes along the shores of Lake Yellowstone, the West Thumb Geyser Basin, Mud Volcano, the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone (Upper and Lower Falls, and Artists Point), Norris Geyser Basin, and the Upper Terrace of Mammoth Hot Springs. As you travel through the Park, your guide will discuss how ancient tribes of Native Americans, mountain men, pioneers, artists, the military, and Presidents influenced the establishment of the World's First National Park. You will also learn how primeval oceans, earthquakes, volcanoes, fires, and glaciers have sculpted the region. It would be best if you were prepared to walk 3.5 to 4 miles over the day.

The tour also includes a lesson on the essentials for traveling safely in bear country, using bear spray, and setting up a spotting scope to view wildlife from a distance. In the afternoon, you will explore Calcite Springs, Tower Falls, and Dunraven Pass, the highest point in the Park. After taking a short break at Canyon Village, you will go to Firehole Drive to see Firehole Falls and the famed Yellowstone Swimming Hole.
