This walk connects Machico to Porto da Cruz through an old footpath once used by the local people to move from one place to another to do exchange business. This was a path once used by local people to travel between these two locations that offers breathtaking views of the north coast of the island and with an adventurous coastal path above the sea.

Pickup is included for guests staying at the designated hotels. We advise you to be ready and waiting in the hotel reception area 10 minutes before your scheduled pickup time. Our guides will wait approximately 5 minutes for each guest. Look out for our vans, which can be either white (smaller) or grey (larger). We strive to ensure a smooth and timely start to your adventure, though external delays can occur. If that happens, you will be updated on the day. One day before the activity, we may adjust the pickup time for your convenience.

    Begin your journey at Levada dos Maroços, where you’ll enjoy an easy walk through Mimosa trees and agricultural lands with fantastic views over Machico city. Ascend to the Boca do Risco viewpoint for a breathtaking panorama of the Atlantic Ocean, Ponta de São Lourenço, and, if the weather permits, the Porto Santo Island. Continue along a narrow, vertiginous coastal path with stunning views, leading towards Porto da Cruz

    The Vereda do Larano walk takes you from Machico to Porto da Cruz along an old footpath used historically for trade. Starting with an easy stroll along Levada dos Maroços, enjoy views over Machico city before ascending to the Boca do Risco viewpoint. Here, you’ll be greeted with vistas of the Atlantic Ocean, Ponta de São Lourenço, and Penha d’Aguia. The journey continues on a narrow coastal path, offering unique sights of Madeira's endemic flora. The hike ends in Porto da Cruz, where you can explore the traditional sugar cane mill, learning about the production of “aguardente” brandy and honey cane, essential to Madeira's culinary heritage.
