Cochin, India - Houseboat tour with Chinese fishing nets This tour includes a 7 hour cruise on a traditional houseboat through the backwaters of Alleppey. In addition to seeing how the locals live in the Kerala region you are served a traditional Kerala-style lunch during the cruise. After meeting your guide in Cochin you drive to Alleppey (Alappuzha) which is widely known as the "Venice of the East." Upon arrival you board a traditional houseboat which has been converted to a deluxe longboat with a marvelous blending of old and innovative styles. You explore the wide network of rivers, lakes, canals and lagoons which are referred to as "backwaters".
