Early morning pickup at 6am from your Agra hotel and visit the Taj Mahal to see the sunrise over the World Heritage Site that was built in the 1600s by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in the tribute to the memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal.
After Taj Mahal return to your hotel for breakfast, then visit the second the Imposing Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built by Emperor Akbar in 1565 A.D, this huge fort is made of red sandstone. The maze of the courtyards, mosques & private chambers of the fort echo the story of the Mughal Empire.
Take a break for lunch at 1pm at one of the best an air-conditioned restaurant.
Finish lunch, you may begin the 1-hour drive to Fatehpur Sikri. It has been described as “the world’s most perfectly preserved ghost town”. Built by Akbar in the late 16th century, it was abandoned after only 14 years, and the elegant buildings of this superb walled city remain intact to this day.
Return to Agra for an early evening, enjoy shopping in Agra, which happens to be known for its fabulous handicrafts. Major handicraft products besides inlay work include leatherware, brassware, carpets, jewellery and embroidery work.
After a memorable day, transfer back to your hotel or railway station in Agra at 6pm.
