Come and visit one of the most beautiful and evocative Renaissance museums in Florence. The building, in the shape of a medieval fort, was built between the 11th and the 4th century and represented the first seat of the Florentine government and republic, which also included Dante Alighieri. Subsequently it became a prison, as well as a place of public executions in Florence and finally it was also a convent. The Museum that we know today houses a huge number of works of art, in most sculptures, statues and bas-reliefs by the greatest Florentine Renaissance artists such as the beautiful Terre Cotte by Luca and Andrea Della Robbia, the statues by Donatello, Mino From Fiesole, Desiderio Da Settignano, the Bottega dei Rossellino, the Formelle Bronzee for the Baptistery of Florence by L. Ghiberti and F. Brunelleschi, works by Giambologna Cellini and some early works by Michelangelo. All this illustrated in a beautiful fourteenth-century frame, the courtyard and the rooms in fact originate from the fourteenth century. Although considered "secondary museum" in Florence, history, sculpture and art make it one of the most fascinating Renaissance museums.
