Start your Old Delhi walking tour with your guide meeting at the pick-up point. Travel in Delhi’s lifeline i.e. Metro to start your tour from Chandni Chowk. Your first destination would be visiting a town hall building that was initially a learning institute before it was bought by Municipal corporation in 1866. We then walk towards a haveli having 150 rooms on three floors that belonged to a textile industrialist. He was one of the popular merchants that helped British during last Mughal emperor rule to capture the red fort. Our next destination would be exploring spice market to learn about Indian spices and ancient medicine technique known as Ayurveda. Get a chance to sample and carry back to your home as well.
We then head towards Ghalib’s house, a renowned poet during declining Mughal rule. Take a rickshaw ride to 17th-century mosque where your guide would share historical facts about Mughals and their rule in India. Head towards narrow alleys of Old Delhi and move towards a Haveli that provides a glimpse about late Mughal architecture in Delhi.
You then head towards a Jain temple constructed by a 7th generation family in Old Delhi. After all chaos in Old Delhi this lane would seem a calm and quiet place for the tour. Click some cool pictures and rest admiring traditional facades.
Walking through Paranthe wali lane and smelling fried flatbreads in clarified butter you can also try some street food at your own expense. Your guide would then drop you back to Chandni Chowk metro station for your own exploration of the city.
