Our guides will meet customers by our tent and trailler set up located on Island View Road on teh council reserve.
You will be met and greeted at the meeting location, do a briefing on safety and paddle to Whenuakura - Donut - Island. The island is a Wildlife Sanctuary, protected due to the presence of Tuataras, a lizard endemic to New Zealand. These animals used to co-exist with other animals on the island up to the mid 80`s when they were being poached. Now the guardinas of the islands are in working on the process of re-introduction of the animals to their island home. Come and be part of the journey with us!
