Using pre-cut masking tape stencils in various beautiful designs, you'll apply authentic gold leaf to create your own unique artwork.
This beginner-friendly workshop allows you to master this centuries-old Japanese craft technique while surrounded by the traditional architecture and atmosphere of one of Japan's most preserved historic districts.

What to expect
1. Choose your base item and select from various decorative pattern stencils. Different items accommodate different numbers of patterns.
2. Position your chosen stencils on your item where you'd like the gold leaf applied. Your instructor will then apply the special adhesive.
3. Learn the delicate technique of applying authentic gold leaf over the adhesive surface. Your instructor will guide you through the proper finger movements to completely cover each pattern.
4. Apply a protective topcoat to seal your design, allow it to dry, then carefully peel away the stencils to reveal your golden creation.
5. Take home your one-of-a-kind gold leaf artwork - a beautiful souvenir that captures the essence of Kanazawa's renowned craftsmanship tradition.
