1Kinkakuji Temple
One of Kyoto's most famous temples and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kinkakuji features a stunning golden building standing above a large pond. Each floor showcases a different architectural style, with the top two floors covered in gold foil to display the prosperity of its era. The original temple was burned down in 1950 and reconstructed in 1955.
