Take in the beautiful natural landscapes as you relax on a scenic drive along the winding mountain roads of Doi Suthep. Visit Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, one of Chiang Mai’s most revered and iconic temples. A popular Thai saying goes, “If you haven’t seen Doi Suthep, you haven’t been to Chiang Mai.” The saying reflects the temple’s importance as one of the city’s most beloved cultural and spiritual landmarks. Take the cable car up to the temple. At the top, admire the magnificent Lanna-style golden pagoda, beautifully decorated with engraved gold plates and flanked by four ornamental umbrellas. The trip is also worth it for the stunning views alone. Enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Chiang Mai city and the surrounding countryside from the mountain at approximately 3,520 feet (1,056 meters) above sea level.
We will continue to a Hmong hill tribe village where you’ll learn about their traditional way of life. Check out the residents’ colorful clothing and feel free to bargain for a few textiles, ornaments or handicrafts during your visit.
