You are picked up from your place of accommodation in chiang mai in the early morning at around 6.30 am. Then drive to the foothill of mountain to join the locals in providing morning alms to Buddhist monks. Your private guide helps you fill the monks’ alms bowls with offerings like rice, cake, snack, curry and so on. In return, the monk will chant and give some type of blessing or prayer. Morning alms is about more than just providing daily food. You will be in the daily morning ritual all over Thailand for a very long time with the Buddhist monks. Re-board the minivan to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, which stands on the flank of the mountain at an elevation of 1,056 meters (3464feet). Then climb the staircase to the top, admire the Lanna style golden pogoda covered with engraved gold plates, flanked by four ornamental umbrellas and enjoy the complete panoramic views of whole Chiang Mai city and wonderful countryside landscape.
