Mumbai's old quarter is best taken at two speeds. Some of it you have to walk, because the best bits sit down lanes a car cannot reach. The rest is spread across the city, so you drive. This half day does both. You start on foot in the Fort district, where the Bombay of a hundred years ago is still standing. Your guide walks you past the High Court and the Rajabai Tower, through the galleries and cafes of Kala Ghoda, and into a museum if you want one. Then you get in the car for the bigger sights: the Gateway of India and the Taj, a little shopping on Colaba Causeway, Marine Drive along the sea, the Babulnath temple up on its hill, a slow pass by Antilia, and Dhobi Ghat, the open-air laundry that washes for half the city. The plan bends to you. You will not fit every stop into half a day, and you are not meant to. Your guide leads with the sights most people come for, and after that you choose. It is a private tour, so the route is yours.
