4 hours (approximately)
Offered in: English

Engage with businesses and artists living in communities that are the lifeblood of South African society. We have partnered with a new generation of young local creatives and business owners. Our goal is to drive the economies outside of the city by bringing people into these local eco-habitats. These young locals and entrepreneurs make Langa a must see destination for both the youth of South Africa and internationals, changing their perceptions.

Times are changing. This township is blossoming, the art is inspiring and the people ooze with charisma. We want to transcend the old views, where residents past and present and tourists alike create a bustling hub for future generations.

What to expect

Engage with businesses and artists whilst also learning about the rich history and culture that makes Langa so vibrant today. Learn about the impact of street art in the neighbourhood. Thulani, Langa entrepreneur, headed the street art initiative back in 2015 by connecting graffiti artists and giving them a platform to express their voices.

Receive a talk from a local who started up a coding school for web development, followed by a hang out with a famous local DJ who started a non-profit music academy. This music academy offers workshops that have brought in artists around the world such as Ed Sheeran and Skrillex. Learn to drum with locals using traditional instruments.

For lunch enjoy a visit to a local restaurant and enjoy a food tasting experience that represents many cultures and tastes of the world. The founder wants to share his love for fine dining with people in his own community of Langa and take them on a trip around the world in every course of the meal.

End at the first township high-end art gallery. The founders hope to incorporate young locals beginning even at school level into the space – they hope to inspire and motivate potential and practicing artists.
