Yeoville is one of the most diverse suburbs in South Africa. Widely known for its rich culturally diverse population, it is Johannesburg’s most Afrocentric cosmopolitans, with many Africa nations found in one square mile. This is what makes this area a great place to experience different African cuisine with authentic dishes served by African people.
Regeneration in Johannesburg has seen the transformation of areas that, for years, were declared no-go zones as a result of urban decay and crime. The Maboneng Precinct east of the city is one of these transformed areas. Maboneng, a Sotho word meaning “place of light”, is a fitting name for a district that has fast become a centre of creative energy for Johannesburg’s urban artists. With a mix of restaurants, coffee shops, clothing boutiques, art galleries, and retail and studio space, the precinct draws the inner-city public as well as the chic, art-going crowd of the city’s suburbs, bringing life back to this downtown Johannesburg neighbourhood. The area also drives Johannesburg tourism within the local and international tourist markets.
This neighbourhood is the city’s student heartland. If you’re looking for Joburg’s youthful and edgy party central you’ll find it here in Braamfontein (or Braam as the youngsters call it). Filled with students, fixie bike hipster cyclists, bearded baristas, street fashion rebels and young creative types, Braam’s wild nightlife is a world away from the slower pace of the northern suburbs and if you want to stay out past midnight this is the place to do it.
7th Avenue is a street in Melville lined with pubs, bars, lounges & clubs, all with a different character and vibe. You will get to see and experience places like Ratz Bar, Liquid Blue, Six's Cocktail Lounge, Liberation Cafe & Stones.
In the mood for some shopping ? look no further than the Rosebank Sunday Market and if you are not done , there's the arts and crafts market as well .
Drama Lounge is where it's at . Here is a club filled with beautiful people and a great vibe! A great way to end the night off with a bang!!
Maker’s Valley is a neighbourhood to the east of Johannesburg’s CBD. It stretches from New Doornfontein to Bezuidenhout Valley, and includes Bertrams, Judith’s Paarl, Troyeville and Lorentzville. The name “Maker’s Valley” refers to the growing presence and activities of many forms of creative entrepreneurism in the area. This place is an inspirational offering, with an inclusive business model used to uplift this area. The Valley is made up of a variety of African makers and artists. Our aim is to shine light on not only the artists but showcase the range of different businesses that the valley contains and the rich history associated with it. An expansive urban farm lines it's pathways. The pathways are filled with pop-up like stalls that offer everything from jewellery design and furniture making to fashion. craft beer and baking.
Victoria Yards presents a uniquely integrated urban complex that is as much about social development as it is commercial enterprise.
