Live a day as a researcher with the scientists of MareTerra NGO. All your curiosities about dolphins will be satisfied. Observe the researchers as they collect scientific data to study the bottlenose dolphin population of the Gulf of Alghero. Discover the stories of some of the most famous dolphins like Suzeo, Taz or Shark Junior.
During snorkelling, you'll have a guide who will take you to discover underwater life. On board, we'll tell you some curiosities about what we have seen. You will never be alone!
Our excursions are inspired by the principles of ecotourism and sustainability:
- Latest generation boat engines reduce fuel consumption and reduce the emission of noise underwater.
- HQWW certification (High Quality Whale Watching) for whale watching operators complying with the Code of Good Conduct. This serves to reduce and minimize the disturbance of cetaceans.
- Environmental education on board.

Meeting point on the “Lungomare Barcellona” promenade, in front of CicloExpress bike rental. Please wait on the benches and do not ask the shop staff for information, as they are not part of our organization. Morning tour meets at 9:10 AM. Meeting time is 2:10 PM for the afternoon tour.

What to expect
This tour is dedicated to the search for dolphins. Thanks to the presence on board of the scientist of MareTerra NGO, our chance of spotting dolphins is 80%, a very high probability for such elusive animals.
During the navigation, we'll satisfy all your curiosities about the biology and behaviour of dolphins, along with their conservation status. Once we sighted a group of dolphins, we get closer in accord with the International Code of Conduct we adopt to minimise the risk of any disturbance to dolphins and other wildlife.
We will also be able to let you listen to the dolphin sounds recorded by the scientists of MareTerra NGO on board.
Thanks to the photo-identification technique, we can recognise dolphins by their dorsal fins and we are able to tell you their names, how old they are and their health status.
During the navigation, you will admire one of the most beautiful coasts of Sardinia and the crystalline waters of the Marine Protected Area of Capo Caccia - Isola Piana. After all these emotions, discover the magnificent underwater world and its inhabitants. Do not have much experience with snorkelling? Our guides will accompany you and will give you guidance in the water. In this way, you can enjoy your safe snorkelling experience.

- In case of no sighting of the dolphins, no refund will be provided. If it is not possible to snorkel for safety reasons, the excursion will continue looking for dolphins with the cost of the ticket unchanged.
- Suitable sea conditions are required for this experience. In case of cancellation, you will be able to choose another date if available or a full refund. Other causes that may occasionally lead to the cancellation of the tour are mechanical failures, minimum number of people not reached, health problems and request for monitoring intervention for the protection of cetaceans that cannot be postponed and conflicts with the date of the tour.
- The guides reserve the right to end the excursion early if it is not possible to guarantee the safety of the people on board or to respect the established program due to weather and sea conditions. The cost of the ticket could be reduced in case of early termination of the excursion.
- Suggested equipment: water, beach towel, swimsuit, sun cream, sunglasses, sunhat.
- The tour is suitable for kids from 5 years of age.
- No toilet on board.
- After booking we ask you to send us your shoe sizes to prepare masks and fins. Thank you for your cooperation.
- If you have any medical conditions that may limit your physical performance or pose a risk to your health in the water (e.g., asthma or angina pectoris), we kindly ask that you inform us at the time of booking.
- "MareTerra Group SNC No Responsibility Disclaimer". Activities that take place in the natural environment inevitably involve risks. To minimise this risk, the staff is adequately trained, and our boats and equipment are subject to routine maintenance or extraordinary maintenance when necessary. However, by booking and participating in our excursions, the Participant(s): 1) Declares under their responsibility to be in a good state of health and to exempt MareTerra Group SNC from any civil and criminal liability related to and consequent to the ascertainment of this condition; 2) Undertakes to behave following the principles of legality and respect for the principles of civilisation on the occasion of the excursion and not, in any case, engage in behaviour contrary to the law and civil rules that may put danger to one's own or others' safety; 3) Relieves MareTera Group SNC from any liability, direct and indirect, for any material and non-material damage, theft and/or damage to any personal object and/or expenses (including legal fees), which may arise following participation in the excursion, also as a consequence of one's or others' behaviour; 4) Finally, by accepting the terms and conditions, the Participant(s) assumes all responsibility that may derive from participation in the excursion and relieves the MareTerra Group SNC of any civil and criminal liability, even objective, as a consequence of accidents caused to himself or third parties and illnesses that occurred during the entire duration of the excursion, including transfers by any means to and from the excursion site; 5) Under and for art. 1341 and 1342 of the Italian Civil Code, the Participant(s) declare to have carefully examined all the clauses listed above and to specifically approve them by booking our tour.
