    Merdeka Square or also known as Dataran Merdeka is set in front of the Sultan Abdul Samad Building (the former State Secretariat). it seems to be nothing more that a giant field with perfectly manicured green laws and centrepiece of the tallest flagpole in the world proudly displaysing the Jalur Gemilang (Malaysian flag). Direct in front is Royal Selangor Club and to the north is St. Marry's Church, one of the oldest Anglican churches.
