This half-day guided tour is an immersive, delicious, and energetic way to experience the heart of Cape Town.
Situated at the foot of Signal Hill, on the fringe of the city centre, and formerly known as the Malay Quarter, the Bo-Kaap’s origins date back to the 1760s when numerous “huurhuisjes” (rental houses) were built and leased to slaves. These people were known as Cape Malays, and were brought from Malaysia, Indonesia and the rest of Africa to work in the Cape.
Situated in the oldest working harbour in South Africa, with the iconic Table Mountain as its backdrop, makes the V&A Waterfront is a favourite for local and international visitors.
The street known as St George's Mall, in the Centre of Cape Town, was once a busy central road, but in recent times it was bricked up and blocked off to traffic. This pedestrian walkway through the heart of the city is now lined with fashionable shops and restaurants, while the vast paved area that runs north to south through the city is populated with colorful street vendors and buskers.
Pause for a scenic and informative break in the Company’s Garden, a peaceful oasis in the heart of the city. Your guide will share stories of its origins as a vital supply station for early Dutch settlers, and its evolution into one of Cape Town’s most beloved public spaces. Cycle through the beautifully maintained grounds, admire historic landmarks and statues, and take in views of Table Mountain rising beyond the trees.
