Gal Oya National Park - The Crossing

Gal Oya National Park, Sri Lanka, was established in 1954. It is the main catchment area of Senanayake Samudraya's largest reservoir in Sri Lanka. Senanayake Samudraya is a result of the Gal Oya project, which saw the damming of the Gal Oya at Inginiyagala (in 1950). The Gal Oya National Park's elephant herd is a key feature. It can be viewed throughout the year. The forest's notable flora includes three important herbs of Ayurveda medicine triphala: Terminalia chebula (Telegraphia bellirica), and Emblicaofficinalis. The Gal Oya Development Board managed the park from 1954 to 1965 until it was taken over by the Department of Wildlife Conservation. It is located 314 km (195 miles) from Colombo. You should spend time with the Asian elephant on this Sri Lanka safari. Imagine that you are enjoying the beautiful wildlife of Sri Lanka and then suddenly, an elephant emerges from a clearing.
