What to expect

Please note: The number of boats allowed to leave Laos ports is solely regulated by the Lao government and is beyond our control. During the high season (November to February).
Some days may be very busy, and the boats may be crowded, which may affect comfort. We ask for your understanding and recommend that you plan and prepare accordingly before booking this trip.

You must be on the boat for at least 6 hours. If you have any health issues, such as knee pain, heel pain, or osteoarthritis, please consider this before booking.

Slow boats will carry about 100-200 passengers on board.
This boat is shared with local tourists.
The boat will not stop at any other point except Pak Bang.

Day 1

05.00-5.30 am. 05:00–05:30 AM – Get picked up by a comfortable VIP van (10 seats) from your accommodation or a central meeting point in Chiang Rai.

08.00 am. Cross The Border by Bus at The 4th Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge (Chiang Khong-Huay Xai)

09.30 am. Take a boat trip to Pakbang.

5:00 pm. Reach Pakbang (accommodation is excluded). You need to take all your luggage from the boat and bring it back tomorrow.

Day 2

08.00 am. Depart Pakbang and take the boat trip to Luang Prabang.
If the boat is too crowded, we recommend arriving early to reserve a seat.

05.00 pm. Arrive at Luang Prabang
