One of Old Delhi's best-kept secrets, Naughara, meaning "nine homes" is a tranquil gated neighbourhood entered through the bustling Kinari Bazaar, making its sudden quiet feel almost magical. At the end of this charming lane stands a 19th-century Jain Swetamber Temple, its entrance adorned in white marble, vivid stained glass, and brilliant painted panels. 6Dariba Kalan
Delhi's most historic silver and jewellery market takes its name from the Persian phrase Dur-e-be-baha, meaning "unparalleled pearl", a fitting title for a street that has traded in precious stones, gold, and silver since the reign of Shah Jahan in the 17th century. This lane witnessed one of history's darkest moments when Persian invader Nadir Shah's army looted its gold shops during the infamous Delhi Massacre of 1739.
