What to expect

Located between Table Mountain and Signal Hill, Lion' s Head overlook the city of Cape Town, it is part of Table Mountain National Park. Our first 30 minutes hike require the use of our headlamps, you will see Cape Town city light luckily this part of the trail is easy to follow albeit being a steep gravel track. First twilight appear 30 minutes before “sunrise” by then we will have completed a full loop around Lion’s Head standing half way to the summit where the path diverged. The last 20 to 30 minutes of the trail is along a steep ridge with rocky sections and ladders which require at time the use of your hands. As the sun light starts to peak over the horizon the light begins to change to an orange glow over Table Mountain. At 669m the summit of Lion’s Head reveal a 360 degrees view of Cape Town, Table Mountain and the sparkling coastline. It is only now in full daylight that we are able to see the path that we have just ascended with impressive rock formation such as Cape granite, Table Mountain sandstone as well as on the lower slope of Lion's Head our unique indigenous Cape Fynbos. The descent back to the car park takes approximately 45mn. Start time vary based on Sunrise.
