1Mombacho Volcano Natural Reserve
This dormant volcano has four craters. All of the craters are covered with cloud forest. This type of forest is only found in one other location in the Pacific, and that is at Apoyo Lagoon. On the Mombacho volcano, you are going to walk around one of the craters, you can find a lot of different trees and plants that thrive because of the cloud forest's humidity, and you can observe howler and white face monkeys, sloths, as well as snakes, deer, reptiles, birds, and insects.

2La Laguna de Apoyo
Apoyo Lagoon is a nature reserve located between the departments of Masaya and Granada. Apoyo is the deepest geological point in Central America. This ancient volcano last erupted 20,000 years ago. The glistening, deep-blue Crater Lagoon, with its slightly salty water, is an invitation to swim, dive, sail, or paddle. Here you have one of the cleanest lakes in the entire region. For swimmers, no dangers lurk under the surface, and the water temperature, between 25 and 28 degrees, is just right for a refreshing dip anytime, and is especially inviting on cooler days.

3Masaya Volcano
The Masaya Volcano National Park comprises an area of 54 km2 and includes two volcanoes and five craters. The volcanoes have erupted several times in history, and were feared by both the indigenous people and the Spanish conquerors. The Spanish baptized the active volcano “La Boca Del Infierno or “The Mouth of Hell”. They planted a cross, “La Cruz de Bobadilla” (named after Father Francisco Bobadilla), on the crater lip in the 16th century to exorcise the Devil. The eruptions have had a dramatic impact on the surroundings. Rocks and volcanic ashes still cover the area surrounding the volcanoes. The nature is rough yet peaceful. Different types of vegetation appeared after the eruptions. The park wildlife includes coyotes, raccoons, opossums, deer, iguanas, and monkeys. We are going to the lookout for no more than 20 minutes, due to the risk of volcanic gas explosions, which will allow you to look inside the crater mouth and observe the BRIGTHNESS of the lava from a recent crater.
