We will visit at least two world class locations for photography in Utah's Canyonlands in the morning (sunrise), as well as several great spots in iconic Arches National Park in the afternoon (sunset). I have traveled extensively in search of amazing photographic locations, and it is hard to beat Arches, Dead Horse Point and the Islands in the Sky district of Canyonlands National Park.
I will show you great locations, and make suggestions on photographic composition and subject matter. I can even help you with your camera settings if you are a beginner. We will take a break for lunch (not included) during the middle of the day when the light is not as good.
What's Included
Meeting and pickup
Note: I have room for 4 passengers + gear comfortably in my vehicle, so I can only drive the first 4 people who book this tour. Others need to drive their own vehicle and follow. I can meet you at any hotel or campground in Moab (not Castle Valley), or at the Moab Visitor Center on Main St.
We will meet an hour before sunrise behind the Moab Visitor Center. Street parking is plentiful early in the morning. I have room for 4 passengers, so larger groups will need to carpool. After a 3+ hour break for lunch, the tour resumes in the afternoon, returning about an hour after sunset.

1Dead Horse Point State Park

2Canyonlands National Park
Photograph at 2-3 locations, pending weather and time.

3Arches National Park
Iconic arches and rock formations, often with the snow-covered peaks of the La Sal Mountains behind. It is a busy park, so we will try to visit more out of the way locations that fewer visitors get to.
4 hours • Admission ticket not included -
4Potash Road
Time permitting, we will visit an ancient petroglyph site along Potash road on our way back to Moab after the morning in Canyonlands
20 minutes • Admission ticket included
Additional info
- Not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health
- Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
- Short hikes (less than 1 mile) required for some locaitons.
