Return to the Vicente family workshop, which becomes your home base for a low-key day of learning about and exploring the unique customs and craft of Tomas’s Zapotec village. Visit the open air market, then in the afternoon explore the streets, local cathedral, community museums and other weaving workshops on your own or with a guide, as you wish.
During our stay in the state of Oaxaca, we will enjoy a coexistence with one of the main Zapotec peoples of pre-Hispanic Mexico, rich in traditions and customs called Teotitlan del Valle. Characterized by its feather dance, in addition to being one of the first Zapotec settlements with beautiful landscapes and historical buildings, the mother tongue of this community is Zapotec that is still spoken among the new generations today, recognized for its great artisans for being the cradle of wool rugs, traditions of millenary inheritances that have passed from generation to generation.
