    Jvari Church

The first place you will visit is Jvari Monastery, an ancient temple dating back to the 6th century AD, located near Georgia’s ancient capital, Mtskheta. Perched atop a high mountain, it offers picturesque views of the surrounding area, including the confluence of the turbulent Aragvi and Kura rivers. The monastery attracts thousands of visitors thanks to its remarkable architecture, stunning location, and rich historical significance. The name “Jvari” translates from Georgian as “The Cross,” and it carries a unique story that we will share with you during the visit. Since 1994, Jvari Monastery has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, underscoring its global cultural importance.

    Mtskheta

Our next stop is the ancient capital of Georgia — Mtskheta, a living museum city and, like Jvari Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This city has been continuously inhabited for over 2,500 years and once served as the capital of the early Kingdom of Iberia. Mtskheta is home to many ancient historical monuments, including Bebris Castle, dating back to the 1st century. One of the most sacred places here is the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, where, according to tradition, the robe of Jesus was brought from Jerusalem to Georgia in the 1st century and buried. During the tour in Mtskheta, we will walk from the parking lot to the historic fortress, passing through narrow streets filled with souvenir shops, wine tasting venues, and Georgian sweets. We will visit the burial place of the robe of Jesus at Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. After the visit, you’ll have time to explore the area and take memorable photos.
