The Roman bath ruins give us an insight into ancient history and the early use of thermal springs. In the 1st century AD, the Romans recognized the healing effects of the thermal springs of Baden-Baden, which was then known as Aquae Aureliae. They built a thermal bath complex here to serve injured and tired Roman soldiers. Such thermal complexes were also a center of social life for ancient Romans. The baths were not only places of relaxation and hygiene, but also of social interaction and trade.
