    Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut.

    The adventure begins at Marangu Gate, where you will register and meet your guide. From there, you will embark on a 7 km trek through a lush rainforest, rich with diverse flora and fauna. As you ascend from 1830 m (6000 ft) to 2740 m (9000 ft), you’ll enjoy the sounds of the forest and the chance to spot unique wildlife. After approximately 4 to 5 hours of hiking, you will arrive at Mandara Hut, your accommodation for the night, where you can relax and prepare for the next day’s journey

    Mandara Huts to Horombo Huts

    After a hearty breakfast, you will set off for Horombo Hut, located at an elevation of 3690 m (12,100 ft). The trek covers 11 km and takes about 6 to 8 hours, transitioning from the lush rainforest to the more open moorland. The change in scenery offers breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro and the surrounding landscape. Upon reaching Horombo Huts, you’ll have time to rest, acclimatize to the altitude, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings before settling in for the night.

    Today’s trek takes you from Horombo Huts to Kibo Huts, covering a distance of 10 km over 6 to 8 hours. As you ascend from 3690 m (12,100 ft) to 4695 m (15,400 ft), the landscape shifts to a semi-desert terrain, characterized by fewer plants and rocky paths. This part of the journey showcases the stark beauty of Kilimanjaro. Upon arrival at Kibo Huts, you’ll have the opportunity to rest and prepare for the challenging summit attempt ahead.

    Kibo Huts to Summit and Descent to Horombo Huts

    The highlight of your trek occurs today as you make your summit attempt. Departing from Kibo Huts in the early hours, you will ascend the final 4 km (2.5 mi) to Uhuru Peak, reaching an elevation of 5895 m (19,340 ft). This challenging hike, taking 5 to 7 hours, is rewarded with stunning views at dawn. After celebrating your achievement at the summit, you will begin your descent, covering 14 km (9 mi) back to Horombo Huts in approximately 5 to 6 hours, where you can rest after a long and rewarding day.
