    Wat Yai Chaya Mongkol

Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon, also known as the "Great Monastery of Auspicious Victory," is characterized by its towering prang (tower) that dominates the surroundings. This ancient temple dates back to the latter half of the 14th century, during the reign of King U Thong. Remarkably, it remains active with resident monks. The current name of the monastery was adopted towards the end of the 16th century when a substantial chedi was constructed. In the northeastern part, you can observe a sizable statue of the Reclining Buddha, adorned with yellow cloth and facing east, welcoming the rising sun. Like numerous other structures in the vicinity, Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon fell victim to destruction during the 1767 invasion. Nevertheless, it is a remarkable place and definitely worth a visit.

    Wat Chaiwatthanaram

This temple is renowned as one of Ayutthaya's most iconic and excellently preserved temples. It's celebrated for its remarkable Khmer-style architecture and its picturesque location along the riverside. It's a popular destination, especially in the late afternoon and at sunset. During the evening, you'll often find local individuals dressed in traditional attire engaging in their prayers, adding to the enchanting atmosphere. Keep an eye out for bats within the temple buildings as they depart from their resting places at sunset. While one of the stupas is presently under restoration, it doesn't obstruct the view of the beautiful temple during sunset. We will return back here to admire the temple's sparkling beauty in the evening.
