The exact hike with be determined by consultation with you. One of your favorite hikes is to the Grand Prismatic Spring overlook, Fairy Falls and Imperial Geyser in the Midway geyser basin. This is a relatively flat 6.7 mile out and back hike. We have a picnic by Imperial Geyser. We love hike this because it captures what is unique about Yellowstone: the geothermal features and affords time to visit the Grand Faithful geyser which is just 5 mile up the road from the trailhead. Entry into Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks is not included in the tour. The most economic option is to buy an “America the Beautiful” annual pass ($80) which grants entry into all parks and monuments. Once inside the park all activities are free.
One of our most popular hiking options: Fairy Falls and Imperial Geyser includes a small climb to the overlook of the Grand Prismatic Spring. This view from above avoids the crowds and allows you to take in the whole spring.
Fairy Falls (200ft) is on the trail to Imperial Geyser. It is pretty as a destination in and of itself and is a 4.8-mile roundtrip if you decide to go no further. It is an additional 1 mile to Imperial Geyser from Fairy Falls. This extension is well worth it. You can hike to a waterfall anywhere, but visiting a backcountry geyser is a uniquely Yellowstone experience.
Depending on your chosen hike, you will have time to stop at Old Faithful and witness the geyser erupt (typically every 90 minutes)
The drive to Yellowstone takes you through Grand Teton National Park. There are opportunities to stop for the iconic sunrise on the Tetons photo and to view any wildlife we see.
