Boudhanath Stupa is the largest known as the holiest Tibetan Buddhist temple outside Tibet and is the largest stupa in Nepal. It is situated in Boudha in the eastern part of Kathmandu. The stupa was built in the 14th century, and it is said that it was built right after the passing of Buddha. There are various interesting legends about the construction of the stupa.
Kathmandu Durbar square is famous among Nepalese as “Basantapur.” It is one of the three Durbar squares in Kathmandu Valley. The meaning of Durbar is “palace.” The Kathmandu Durbar square was where the city’s king once crewed. It has the most spectacular legacy of traditional architecture. While wandering around Durbar square, you can easily spend hours watching the whole city from the terraced platform of the tall Maju Deval. In 1934, a huge earthquake destroyed once crowed old traditional building was destroyed. The entire Durbar Square was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979.
Patan Durbar Square is the most popular tourist area in Lalitpur. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Darbar square is a marvel of Newari architecture. The floor of the whole Darbar square is tile with red brick, traditional Newari style. There are many temples and idols inside the square. The main temples are opposite the palace. There is also a big bell alongside the main temple.
This temple was classified as a World Heritage Site in 1979. This "extensive Hindu temple precinct" is a "sprawling collection of temples, ashrams, images, and inscriptions raised over the centuries along the banks of the sacred Bagmati river." It is one of seven monument groups in UNESCO's designation of Kathmandu Valley.
On this day, you drive to beautiful Pokhara city. It can take around 7-8 hours to reach Pokhara from the Kathmandu valley.
