Gombe Stream is best known for Jane Goodall's chimpanzee research done in Tanzania's smallest national park. Millennia ago, the highland forests of Zaire extended intoTanzania; the last remnants of this forest exist today only in Gombe and the Mahale Mountains Park. Although the park itself is a mixture of grass, woodlands and forest, it is predominantly a forest park and the majority of its mammals are primates.
ransfer from Dar Es Salaam airport for your scheduled flight to Kigoma 09:30 am Arrive at Kigoma airport 11:40. Pick up on arrival and transfer to Kibirizi port for your boat to Gombe (2 hours boat trip). Pick up on arrival and transfer to the camp 14h00 hot lunches at the camp. Afterwards proceed for Chimpanzee tracking in the forest. Gombe Stream’s main attraction is obviously the chimpanzee families that live protected in the park’s boundaries. Visitors take walks deep into the forest to observe and sit with the extraordinary primates for an entire morning. Apart from chimpanzee viewing, many other species of primates live in Gombe Stream’s tropical forests. Val vet and colobus monkeys, baboons, forest pigs and dik dik inhabit the dense forest and a wide variety of tropical birdlife.
On 08h30, Start Chimpanzee tracking in the forest, Gombe became well known for the conservation project started from Jane Goodall, who first arrived in Gombe in 1960. Apart from chimpanzee viewing, many other species of primates live in Gombe Stream’s tropical forests, like velvet, Colobus monkeys and baboons, Climb to Jane’s peak and visit Kakombe waterfalls if time allows.
Morning after breakfast transfer to Kigoma by Boat, lunch and rest till 15:00 when you will drive to the airport for Schedule 16:00 flight to Dar es Salaam.
