2Valinhos Sanctuary
You will have the opportunity to visit the places where the Angel appeared in 1916 (Poço do Arneiro and Loca do Angel, the houses of the Pastorinhos and also the place where Our Lady appeared to the Pastorinhos on August 19, 1917 – let’s tell you why this was the only of the 6 appearances that did not happen in the Cova da Iria. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to see old photographs from various locations and also the Pastorinhos of Fatima, to "transport" to Fatima of 1917. We guarantee an exciting experience!

Near the site of the Monastery of the Battle, on August 14, 1385, a decisive event for the consolidation of the Portuguese nation took place: D. João, Master of Avis and future king of Portugal, defeated the Castilian armies in the Battle of Aljubarrota. This victory put an end to a dynastic crisis that had arisen since 1383, when King Ferdinand died, whose only daughter was married to the King of Castile, a claimant to the throne of Portugal. Its architectural value and historical significance motivated the classification of the monument as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1983. The construction encompassed seven reigns of the second dynasty (1385–1580), and involved a large team of high-level stone masters, domestic and foreign, initially led by Afonso Domingues, until his death in 1402.
