Known for her scandalous behavior, legend has it that the Sovereign loved to spend long hours in these waters in the company of her young lovers. The Baths of Queen Joan (Bagni della Regina Giovanna) are a treasure trove of history, home to the ruins of an ancient Roman villa known as 'Villa Pollio Felice,' which stood right on the promontory of Cape Sorrento. Dating back to the 1st century BC, the villa covered an area of about 320,000 square feet and was divided into two sections: the maritime villa and the countryside residence. Today, only the ruins of the structure remain, which can be reached by both land and sea.
