This safari takes you to Chebera-Churchura National Park, one of Ethiopia’s largest and least-visited wildlife reserves—meaning fewer visitors, more wildlife, and a truly authentic safari experience. Unlike crowded safari destinations, Chebera offers vast open landscapes where animals move freely and sightings feel natural, not staged.
The tour combines game drives, waterfalls, and guided walking experiences, giving you a deeper connection to the park’s ecosystems. With two nights inside the park at Chebera Lodge, you stay close to wildlife and enjoy early-morning and late-afternoon safari moments when animals are most active.

Early in the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel or Addis Ababa Bole International Airport and transferred to the airport for your domestic flight to Jimma. Upon arrival in Jimma, meet your professional guide and driver and begin the scenic drive toward Chebera-Churchura National Park, passing coffee-growing areas, rivers, and rural landscapes. After entering the park, enjoy your first guided game safari. Chebera-Churchura is home to African elephants, buffalo, hippos, antelopes, warthogs, monkeys, and a wide variety of bird species. The park’s diverse ecosystems—savannah, forest, and riverine areas—offer excellent wildlife-viewing opportunities. Arrive at Chebera Lodge in the late afternoon. After check-in, relax and enjoy the peaceful wilderness setting. Dinner at the lodge.

After breakfast, depart for a full-day safari inside the national park. Today you will explore deeper sections of the park with multiple game drives, covering different habitats and scenic viewpoints. You may encounter large elephant herds, buffalo, antelopes, monkeys, and rich birdlife. Visit rivers and natural water points where animals often gather, and explore areas known for waterfalls and lush vegetation. Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park or return to the lodge, depending on wildlife movement and conditions. In the afternoon, continue wildlife viewing before returning to the lodge to relax and enjoy sunset views.

After an early breakfast, enjoy a guided morning hike or nature walk. This experience allows you to explore the park on foot, learn about local plants, animal tracks, birdlife, and the park’s ecosystem from your guide. After the hike, begin the drive back to Jimma. Arrive in the afternoon and check in at Haile Resort Jimma, one of the best hotels in the area. Enjoy free time to relax, use the resort facilities, or take a short walk around the surroundings.
