Downtown Providence is experiencing a renaissance of its historic brewing scene- join us for a walking tasting tour of Providence's local libations, including delicious beer and spirits produced right here in Rhode Island's capital city.
Between tastings, learn about the incredible history of Rhode Island prohibition in a state that never ratified the Prohibition amendment. Immigrant-rich Providence found it a little too difficult to part with its Old World drinking cultures, despite what the Feds had decided was "moral." From the zealous coalition who brought it to Congress, to liquor loopholes, to famous bootleggers and undercover agents and corrupt officials, Providence's Prohibition history is rich with characters and culture you won't find anywhere else.
The tour will meet on the left side of the lobby of the Hotel Providence.
Guests will taste a sampling of local beers along with a bite of a housemade pretzel, a Malted Barley specialty!
Sample a delicious Espresso Martini made with locally roasted coffee beans and locally made spirits.
At Moonshine Alley, guests will taste two delicious moonshines and enjoy a hot chicken sandwich slider.
At Plant City, guests will taste an amazingly refreshing cocktail of the day, along with a vegan pizza to share.
Between all of these incredible restaurants, guests will learn the fascinating history of Providence during the Prohibition era, from bootleggers to corrupt officials to everything in between.
