Mardi Himal Trekking is a wilderness and a remote area trekking in Annapurna Region trekking in Nepal. The rugged terrain and off the beaten trail takes us to the Base Camp of Mardi Himal which offers us breathtaking views of Mardi Himal, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) and Annapurna Massif. This less crowded trekking trail in Annapurna Region is the first preference of the naturalists and wilderness lover.

The hidden gem in Annapurna region trekking, Mardi Himal trekking is hiking through magical rhododendron experiencing country ethnic groups and their way of life. The picturesque settlement of ethnic groups, winding trails, cascading natural waterfalls, vegetations, terraced fields are major highlights of this trekking. This trekking tends to be more beautiful during March and April since the entire hills are blanketed with flowering rhododendron. The views are so stunning.

    Your journey in Nepal begins today. A Vyas Treks & Expedition repersentative will be waiting for you at the Trubhuvan International airport. He/she will drop you at your hotel where you can take a rest. In the evening you can enjoy a welcome dinner hosted by Vyas Treks & Expedition. During the dinner you can enjoy Nepalese cuisine which will introduce you to the country’s food culture.

    Kathmandu: sightseeing

    Kathmandu Durbar Square

    Your tour UNESCO World Heritage Sites today. These sites highlight Nepal’s cultural and religious heritages. Your first stop will be Kathmandu Durbar Square which showcases Kathmandu’s rich architectural prowess during the Malla dynasty (1201–1769),and then Swayambhunath Stupa which tourists commonly refer to as the ‘Monkey Temple’ owing to a large number of the monkey population in the vicinity. Next is Pashupatinath Temple which is one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites for Hindus all over the world followed by the Buddhist shrine of Boudhanath which is one of the largest stupas in the world. Lastly, in the late afternoon you visit Vyas Treks and Expedition’s office for a brief orientation on your trek.

    You drive for rafting early in the Morning from Kathmandu to approx. 3 hours’ starting point Charaudi 85 KM and do raft for about 3 hours.

    After breakfast drive to Pokhara 3-4 hours by tourist bus and drive to Pothana (2100M)

    After an early morning breakfast drive to Pokhara 3-4 hours by tourist bus. You start your adventure with a drive to Pothana (2100M) approx. 2 hrs by private vehicle (Jeep / Bus).

    From Pothana to Forest Camp approx. 5-6 hrs (2,500m)

    After breakfast trek to Forest Camp from Pothana.Your trail passes through lush forest dotted with the red rhododendrons. The flowers are a common sight in Nepalese hills and it is no surprise that its Nepal’s national flower. Your trail is very quiet until you reach a clearing of the forest camp. You can take rest and explore the area which is also known locally as Kokar.

    Forest Camp to low camp (2970m/9504ft): 5-6 hours

    You continue to walk through dense forests admiring Nepal’s rich biodiversity and reach the low camp. From here, the fantastic view of Mt. Machapuchhre (Mt. Fishtail) up the valley is mesmerizing. You can spend some time in the evening observing the local lifestyle.

    Low camp to high camp (3540m/11,328ft): 3-4 hours

    Your trek uphill alongside a ridge towards Mardi Himal and Macchhapuchhre. The tree lines start getting thinner and the area mostly consists of shrubs with isolated rhododendron bushes along the trail. If lucky, you might even come across the Daphne pheasant (national bird of Nepal) on way to high camp. You ascend up to the high camp, which the final destination of the day. From here the mountain views are stunning.

    High camp to upper viewpoint (4250m/13600ft), return back to high camp: 2-3 hours

    On your trek to the upper viewpoint you ascend and descend, and sometimes on a steep and narrow trail. Your trail passes through pastures and you hike along a narrow ridge before reaching the Upper Viewpoint. The view of the Himalayan vista from here is astonishing. You see Mardi Himal (5587m), Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna south (7219m), Hiunchuli (6441m), Baraha Shikhar (Mt. Fang) (7647m), Tent Peak (5695m), Singhachuli (6501m), Machapuchhre (6993m) and others. You trek back to the high camp for an overnight stay.

    High camp to Sidhing Village (1700m/5440ft): 6-7 hours

    You take a different route in high camp that takes you to Sidhing instead of going back down to Mardi Himal. The different route lets your experience something different and makes your trek exciting. Siddhing offers a quiet stay for trekkers as it is tucked away from the busier trails.

    Trek down to Pokhara via Khanepani. approx. 4-5 hrs (1,100m)
