This is a 3 day adventure (and one of our most popular Morocco tours) to the top of the stunning Jebel Toubkal, the highest peak in the Atlas Mountains.
You’ll get to enjoy some stunning scenery as you trek to the mountain’s summit. The Ighouliden waterfalls and the Azzaden Valley are beautiful parts of the High Atlas and the views from the top are sublime.
Join us with our Berber guides and mules on a true Moroccan adventure!
When you have transferred from Marrakech to Imlil we will start the 6 hour trek into the Azzaden Valley. During your hike you will pass Tizi n’Mzik at 2450m, the refuge at Azib n’Tansoult and the beautiful Ighouliden waterfalls. Finally, we will make our way to the Azib Tamsoult mountain refuge to stay the night.
There is a fairly stiff climb out of the Azzaden Valley to the Toubkal Refuge. It is well worth it though! We will trek over the Aguelzim mountain pass at 3560m and you can take in the spectacular views over the Atlas mountain range while we have a well-deserved lunch. When evening comes, we will spend the night at the Toubkal Refuge (3207m) also known as the Neltner Hut, with other trekkers making the same journey.
Today is an early start for the climb to the summit! The peak of Jebel Toubkal stands at 4167m and when you reach it (if there are not too many clouds) you will get some beautiful views over the Atlas mountain range and the Sahara desert. When we make our way down, we will stop at the Refuge so you can have a delicious lunch, before we trek right back down to the bottom of the mountain. This is a fairly long day with 8-9 hours of trekking and involves a 900m climb in altitude and then almost 2500m back down again. When you get to Imlil, you will spend the night in a cosy riad until morning.
