  Begin your Lake District adventure in the vibrant lakeside town of Bowness-on-Windermere, one of the National Park's most popular destinations. Here you'll have free time to explore at your own pace. You may choose to take an optional cruise across Lake Windermere, enjoying spectacular views of the surrounding fells from the water, or simply enjoy a leisurely walk along the lakeside promenade to soak up the scenery.

  Ambleside

  Your journey continues to the picturesque market town of Ambleside, nestled at the northern tip of Lake Windermere. Wander its quaint streets, discover unique local shops and cafés, or take a gentle stroll towards the lakeside to enjoy spectacular mountain views. This charming town perfectly captures the character and beauty of the Lake District. (60 minutes) Fun Facts: Ambleside is largely Victorian and home to the Roman Galava Fort – ex-residence to 500 Roman soldiers. It grew rapidly when the ferry terminal opened in 1845. St Mary’s Church (1854) was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott. The 17th Century Bridge House over Stock Ghyll is one of the most photographed scenes in Lakeland.

• Little Langdale Valley (Pass by)

  Next, sit back and enjoy the scenic drive as BusyBus takes you through the spectacular Little Langdale Valley. Travelling along narrow country lanes, you'll pass traditional stone cottages, ancient dry-stone walls, and breathtaking mountain scenery. It's a true BusyBus adventure—hold on and enjoy the ride!

  Blea Tarn

  Leaving the beaten track behind, you'll arrive at the peaceful Blea Tarn, one of the Lake District's hidden gems. Surrounded by dramatic fells and spectacular landscapes, you'll have time to take a gentle walk, breathe in the fresh mountain air, and capture unforgettable photographs. Many guests consider this tranquil location to be one of the highlights of the day. (45 minutes) Please note participation in the walk is optional. Guests can participate in as little or as much as they like - onboard a BusyBus we want everyone to have fun!

  Grasmere

  Your final stop is the charming village of Grasmere, nestled in the heart of the Lake District and famous for its literary heritage and world-renowned Grasmere Gingerbread. You'll have time to browse the historic Grasmere Gingerbread Shop, where you can purchase this unique local delicacy—perfect as a souvenir of your trip or as a thoughtful gift for family and friends back home (45 minutes). Fun Fact: Most of the buildings date from the 19th or early 20th Century, though the Church dates from the 13th Century. William Worsdworth, who died in 1850, and his wife Mary, who died 9 years later, have a tombstone in the churchyard of St Oswald’s Church, one of the most visited literary shrines in the world.
