We will leave from Gaeta, admiring the Aragonese Castle overlooking the sea. We will head towards the Regional Park of Monte Orlando, a place that will be able to offer surprising and enchanting sceneries. Unforgettable will be the glimpse of the cliffs, walls more than 80 meters high, which drop sheer into the sea and the imposing and evocative "Grotta del Turco". At the extreme point of the promontory, the Sanctuary of Montagna Spaccata awaits us.
Legend has it that the split in the mountain was created by the death of Christ.
The characteristic chapel dedicated to the Most Holy Crucifix was built on a rock wedged between the walls of the fissure and still today it resists suspended over the deep blue sea.

Leaving the Gulf of Gaeta behind us, we will follow the coastline accompanied by the rhythmic breath of the sea. The majestic Aragonese Castle stands proudly on a rock overlooking the sea and still seems to watch over the entrance to the port.

Thus we come to a small cavity on the coast, barely perceptible and little frequented... the Pozzo del Diavolo! In ancient times this must have been a small karst cavity formed over the millennia, favored by marine erosion, but following the collapse of the top of the cave, this was given the sinister name of "Pozzo del Diavolo"

Its wild soul immediately emerges from one feature: in fact, it cannot be reached on foot, not even through those secret paths that are often known only among residents. To visit it you have to get there exclusively by swimming, canoe or boat: its curious name would derive from the fact that "40 rowing" are necessary starting from the nearby landings; according to another version, however, the 40 oars would be a measure of its length. This cove is usually our favorite for swimming!
