What to expect

Your safari will take you through the wilderness in the main catchment area of Senanayake Samudra, the largest reservoir in Sri Lanka. You will be traveling in a multi-terrain (4WD) game vehicle. Among the wildlife in the park, are 32 species of mammals and over 150 species of birds. Some of these prefer to stay on the many islets on the reservoir. The park is also home to many herbs and medicinal plants.
This Sri Lankan National Park is Famous for…:
Elephants. The herds of Gal Oya have good feeding and water throughout the year and do not migrate in search of better food and water during the dry season, unlike the elephants in the other parks. Hence they can be seen throughout the year. However, between the months of March and July, the wondrous spectacle of elephants swimming from islet to islet can be seen.
