Your island adventure begins in the city centre and capital, Antananarivo. The bustling capital of Madagascar is known as Tana to many travellers. Our guide will meet you at the airport and will take you to the hotel. With an open schedule today, just relax, settle in, or wander through the city’s diverse architectural history.
Day two sets off heading east where you’ll quickly get up close and personal with the island’s vibrant array of wildlife. Chameleons, lizards, frogs, snakes, butterflies, and Sifaka Lemurs are only the short list of creatures you’ll see first-hand at the Peyrieras Madagascar Exotic Reserve.
In the afternoon, we will visit Parc Mitsinjo, where you can find chameleons, snakes, birds and most importantly the biggest lemur species, Indri.
When night falls, perhaps your true inner-explorer can come alive as we’ll hike through the forest to catch a glimpse of night lemurs and other nocturnal friends.
We can’t see it all in just one day, though. Spend hours more wandering through Analamazaotra Reserve on Day 3. Unique, rare, and endangered all describe the species of animals you’ll see here, including 11 different lemur species.
In the afternoon, the wildlife adventure continues as we visit Lemurs Island and Crocodile Park in Vakona Private Reserce. There, you’ll walk among flora and fauna unlike anywhere else on Earth.
Ambatolampy is a small town between Behenjy and Antsirabe. Their artisanal manufacture of aluminium tools, utensils and decorate are famous in Madagascar. We will stop here for lunch
After 7.5 hours drive through beautiful highlands and valleys to the colorful and classic city of Antsirabe. The French called it ‘The city of water’ for its thermal springs. Madagascar’s iconic rickshaws will wheel you around to all the top sites. The monument is located at the city center of Antsirabe. The word 'Fahaleovantena' means independence. Under that word is the first two measures of the national anthem of Madagascar.
The station was built in 1923. Although the station is closed and all train services are stopped. As once of the landmark of Antsirabe, the colonial architecture of the station itself still attract many tourist to visit.
It is also called Notre Dame de la Salette. It is located at the city center. It is a Catholic church found in 1908 and dedicated in 1931.
It is a town located between Morondava and Antsirabe. We will stop here for lunch, which is considered the hottest place in Madagascar.
Famous for its river delta, and but even more for Baobab trees, our excursion next heads to Morondava on the west coast of Madagascar.
We are going to take a boat to visit the mangrove forest and then go to the other side of the river to visit a local fisherman village.
With the afternoon free to discover the scenic tree lines of Baobab Avenue and soak in the sunset on the coastal horizon.
After a restful night’s sleep at one of Morondava’s cozy hotels, our tour will return to Antsirabe on the 11th day, approximately a 9 hour trip. Along the way, view the landscape from seaside to highland looking out the window of the air-conditioned bus. Midway, we’ll stop for lunch at Miandrivazo, which is considered the hottest place in Madagascar.
Upon arrival, the evening of day eleven is about rest, so settle in to your comfy hotel in Antsirabe.
Behenjy is a town between Antananarivo and Ambatolampy. It is believed that they produce the best foie gras in Madagascar. We will stop here for lunch
The final leg of our journey sends us back to the city where it all began. After a 3.5-hour drive through beautiful and wavy central highlands, we’ll have the day to tour the famous sites of Antananarivo. Highlights of the tour on Day 12 include the Queen’s Palace,was built around 1610 and situated at the highest point of Antananarivo.
