Our tour will start at the railway station of Tirano where we will get on board the Bernina Red Train not a simple train, but a real arena overlooking the fascinating spectacle of the nature. We will reach St.Moritz in 2 hours and half.
From Tirano to St.Moritz, you will run along villages, small hamlets, rivers, lakes and glaciers.
The Ospizio Bernina is the highest point of the Red Train line, which here reaches an altitude of 2,253 m.
Once in the centre, between a slice of Engadin walnut cake and a chocolate praline, you can combine a tasty break with a quiet walk to discover the many contradictions of this sumptuous and cosmopolitan mountain town with its Alpine charm.
Lake St. Mortiz, which can be reached from the station via a convenient underpass, is undoubtedly the highlight of the journey with the Bernina train to the Engadine village. Here you can take a walk along the footpath around the lake or simply reach the Church of St. Charles, which can be seen in the distance.
A beautiful lake used heavily for sports, such as kitesurfing and windsurfing in the summertime. In the winter, once the lake freezes, it is used for cross country skiing, walking trails, and kitesurfing on snow, with the famous Engadin Skimarathon crossing the lake annually.
On the way back from St. Moritz by car, we will cross the mountain pass of Maloja, a panoramic road immersed in the woods between the Italian and the Swiss alps.
You will have a short visit of Acquafraggia waterfalls during your return trip to your accommodation. (Except weekend).
