Arguably the most scenic part of Ontario, the BP Explorer whisks you to the Georgian Bay by land and by sea for two days of camping fun. Guests will walk along Canada’s oldest and longest trail, visit 'The Grotto' cave, discover sunken shipwrecks from aboard a glass-bottom boat, and explore an island marked by its mysterious ‘flowerpot’ rock formations.
Guests will enjoy free transportation from Toronto, three square meals, and a good old-fashioned campfire. Best of all, no camping experience or equipment is necessary (not even a sleeping bag). Sightseers can enjoy access to the Canadian wilderness for a unique opportunity that would otherwise take a lot of planning and money to arrange (not to worry, all first-timers will learn the basics of camping).
Get off at Dundas West Subway station and walk south on Dundas West. In about a block, you’ll see an LCBO and Loblaws grocery store on the east side of the street. Look for the dark blue branded tour van and trailer in the Loblaws parking lot.
Known as the Scenic City, it was historically a sailor's town of vices and hedonism. Now it's just a quaint, tree-lined seaport town where the group stops for today's restaurant lunch.
Set up camp in 156 sq. km of pure wilderness. Located on the Niagara Escarpment, the Bruce Peninsula is perfect for wildlife spotting and peace of mind.
This afternoon's hike brings us to the Bruce Trail Grotto. Thousands of years of erosion carved a cave of stone there, where light emanates from an underwater tunnel. This trail will make you smile, guaranteed.
This morning we make the short drive to Tobermory, at the peak of the peninsula. Here we enter Fathom Five National Marine Park. You'll have something to write home about after a stunning glass-bottom boat cruise. The park has 22 sunken shipwrecks, many shallow enough to view from aboard!
We dock at the shores of Flowerpot Island, where massive flowerpot-shaped stone towers line the shore. Here, we spend the day on the trails and perhaps go for a swim.
We get away from the crowds with a serene walk around this mossy trail. There's no better way to immerse yourself in the nature of the island.
Today we hit the road; arriving at a hike that will have us standing on the edge of the world. It's a view you don't want to miss!
We'll take one last opportunity to knock your socks off with a stop at Inglis Falls, ranked the #1 thing to do in Owen Sound. Its 18-meter-high cascade is sure to impress, and if there's time, we'll also take a stroll down the Pine Loop Trail.
We begin our last leg of the journey. You'll have a couple of hours to wind down and catch some winks on the drive back to our drop-off point in Toronto.
