Our first stop of the day is Mon Jam, the travelling time is around 1.5hour. This scenic locale is roughly an hour’s drive from Chiang Mai and boasts a gorgeous mountaintop view like no other – so don’t forget to bring your cameras to capture it! The viewpoint overlooks the Mae Rim Valley and Royal Project Farms, so expect to see lush fields of green – and if the season is right, bountiful fields of colorful flowers.
After taking in the spectacular scenery, we’ll make our way to one of the nearby farms. The hill tribe poppy farmers turned successful agricultural farmers here produce approximately a quarter of the area’s crops. They grow all kinds of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and even flowers. We’ll spend some time with the locals, learn about their day to day lives, and wander the fields before heading to our next stop.
This adventure park will get the adrenaline pumping through your veins. We’ll jump aboard their 5-minute roller coaster ride with enough dips, twists, and turns to satisfy any thrill-seeking junkie. You can also experience the other rides at the adventure park (e.g. ziplining, bungee jumping, and tubing) at your own time and expense.
After refueling with some delicious lunch at the adventure park, we’ll head to the Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden. We’ll explore parts of the huge botanic garden, taking photos of the flowerbeds, wandering around the greenhouses and canopy walk views.
We’ll cap off the day with a stop at Wat Pa Dara Phirom, a 100-year-old royal temple. Named after a Thai princess, this temple remains one of the most exquisitely decorated temples in the north. We’ll marvel at the ornate details, Sukhothai-style Buddha images, gilded chedis, and imposing stone statues before making our way back to Chiang Mai.
